KICKSTART - 1 YEAR LATER

A year ago Bridgend were delighted to partner up and take part in the Kickstart Scheme and have great joy in introducing some of our success stories.

Oliver has been with us for a year now and he first joined Bridgend as one of the very first on our Kickstart programme. This was initially a 6-month work experience programme then we kept Oliver on a permanent contract and apprenticeship in our Kilmarnock Paintshop.

We asked Oliver what were his expectations when you joined us last year?
“To learn more about the paintshop and what was involved in the preparation of getting cars ready and painting them. I’m glad I got into the paintshop as it made me learn more skills.”

What do you like best about the paintshop?
(At this point Oliver’s manager Wullie shouts over “WORKING WITH ME!”)
“Laughs. Doing repairs and having a good laugh now and then. I get satisfaction out of it which is quite good”

Have you any advice for anyone wanting a career in the Paintshop?
“Stick in to it, you’ll learn more as you progress, it can be hard work but if you put focus and dedication into it, it’s worth it”

Thank you! Oliver told us that his Mum had told him how proud she was of him in his first year at Bridgend. We are proud of you too Oliver!
